On Wednesday, April 9th, the administrators at Royse City Middle School received information that a student had a gun on campus. A subsequent investigation occurred and I can confirm that a student was found in possession of a firearm at school. I want to commend the administration and staff in the professional manner in handling this issue. The middle school administrators dealt with this manner through an efficient process to assure the safety of all students and staff. At this time an investigation, involving school staff and the Royse City Police Department, is underway and the incident will be dealt with according to our board policies, Student Code of Conduct and state laws. Again I want to commend the swift action by our administrators and the effectiveness of assuring the safety of our students and staff.
